Vamos a prática.

If you continue with the search you can find books and more books, in addition to a lot of academic material, all from scientific studies, talking about the bases of meditation that you can use to disconnect.

But we are here to talk about your spiritual path and always within the traditionalism within the faith, so I recommend to you Loddfafnir, so that you find the strength you already have and start a practice that can and will help you to change many aspects within your life.

I could write a book on the topic, but our idea in these articles is that they are an introduction to these topics for you, as a guide to where you could go, a basis for you to study more about the subject.

The basic idea of Utiseta as Traditional Meditation within the faith, is simple in idea and conception but at first it may seem difficult to execute.

Today most people live in an environment with thousands of stimuli coming to them daily which makes us have our minds working at very high levels at all times, these levels compared from the industrial revolution to today are alarming, the brutal path of rural exodus brought us all living situations in which we are in continuous stress, a daily search for goals, that sometimes we are not aware of, since we are mostly moving through life in with the auto pilot on, and as you know this can have harmful effect to our bodies and minds. Just before I start, I would like to ask you to do a quick search on a new sensation that gets your dopamine moving fast. It only exists and is necessary because many of us have reached extreme situations where we can no longer have a real focus of more than 10 or even 5 minutes on an activity or topic, always looking for our small satisfactions or more, search and read about the topic you will not regret it.

The world around us is gigantic in many ways, one of them is the amount of things we do not see, we just feel and along this path I would like to bring you the reflection that you can evaluate at this very moment how many things are going through your head, how many sounds are you hearing and your body, how many sensations are there in them now that you stopped to feel? Yes, there are many, our ancestors also lived with concerns and stimuli even within a rural environment, but at that time there was a lesser separation between what is here physically and what is here in more subtle worlds.

The practice of Utiseta that I am going to introduce you to, was practiced by everyone at some point in life or was part of everyday life. We have to understand that what separates us from the entrance to the spiritual world are not metal doors closed with large padlocks, they are ajar glass doors where we can see what is outside, we can cross and go outside but always paying attention to knowing that what is outside can also look at us and that it can also come back with us, but as I said the basic practice will help you walk the paths safely.

Within the history of the tradition we find Roman and Greek records that speak of great Germanic seers such as Albruna, Ganna, Veleda and within the written tradition lets go ahead and quickly visit  Þorbjörg Lítilvölva (The little Volva in the Erik the Red Saga)

“A high seat was placed for her, complete with a pillow. This should be stuffed with chicken feathers. ¨

When she arrived one night, along with the man who had been sent for her, she wore a black robe with a strap adorned with precious stones to the hem. On her neck, she wore a glass beaded necklace and, on her head, a black lambskin hood lined with white cat fur. She carried a staff with a ledge at the top, adorned with brass studded with stones at the top. At her waist, she had a pendant belt with a large bag. In it she kept the charms she needed for her predictions. She wore fur-lined calfskin boots, with long, strong laces and large tin buttons at the tips. In her hands she wore cat fur gloves, white and lined with fur.

When she came in, everyone was supposed to offer her respectful greetings, and she responded according to how the person attracted her. Farmer Thorkel took the wise woman by the hand and led her to the seat that had been prepared for her. He then asked her to inspect his flock, servants and buildings. She had little to say about all of this.

That night, tables were set and food prepared for the seer. A porridge of goat’s milk was made for her and as meat she received the hearts of all the animals available there. She had a brass spoon and a knife with an ivory rod, her two halves held with bronze strips and the broken tip.”

The importance of the seers can also be seen in Fyrkat, an ancient Viking ring-shaped castle in Denmark, dating from c. 980 AD. It is located near the town of Hobro, some distance from the current end of the Mariager fjord in northern Jutland. A woman was found buried in a horse-drawn carriage and wearing a red and blue dress with gold threads, all signs of high status. Although the grave contains items commonly found in Viking-era female graves (such as scissors and spindle spirals), it also contains a variety of other rare and exotic items. For example, the woman wore silver rings on her toes (otherwise unknown in the Scandinavian record) and her burial contained two bronze bowls from Central Asia.

But why am I telling you this? So that you can understand the importance that existed in the life of our Ancestors on what was in the subtle plans and their practices.

You who begin to walk the path of faith must always be open to the new that the world will present to you, but always safely, please.

Now we go directly to Utiseta that can be translated as Sit Out (sit out), outside yourself, it exists for you to leave you and seek what is out of the ordinary, profane, the practice has a connotation and interpretation that only it was practiced in its literal form, that is to say sit outside your home, look for a place outside where it was often the tomb of ancestors or crossroads, but this point I would like to remind you that much of the written tradition we have today has been passed from the tradition oral by people who were not of the faith and thus brought their judgments and experiences that were not the real ones within our faith.

You can practice Utiseta at your home, in front of your altar, whether lying on the couch, on the bed, as you believe it is best, but always keep in mind that the best would be sitting in front of your altar when you perform yours or the traditional way in nature.

I recommend practicing together, either with your life partner or in your religious community, because that way you can achieve a greater energetic interaction among yourselves and the benefits are huge when everyone around you, the ones you choose to be with around you vibrate in a similar way.

As I explained before it may seem like a lot of things but it has Loddfafnir strength, this can be the treasure that you always had available but never used. Let’s practice.

Know that Utiseta’s path is yours, always has been, you just never learned or just forgot the practice until today, I want you to always remember that you can and should seek within yourself the strength to persevere within that path. You must try to empty yourself, you will be able to do more and more without what you believe is you and because I say that, because you are not what you believe, you are much more and much less, we are just dust. stars, we have a quick existence like a sigh but we are a lot because we are a unique and expanding universe.

When you empty yourself and reach an appropriate vibration or if you prefer when you tune in to the channel you are looking for, you will connect with something Bigger than you, always from the inside out.

Breath.

Within faith and faith being an indivisible part of life, breathing is a part that we often neglect since it works by itself, but as you will really start to practice and live better I would like to ask you to pay attention to your breath right now, stop for a moment, place one hand on your belly, yes on the belly not on the chest and inhale through your nose and exhale through your mouth, it may have been nothing, but you just took the first step into practice, I will explain how you should breathe.

The first few times and whenever possible, just put one of your hands (better than the opposite hand you write, that is to say that I am a left-hander, I put the right hand since I write with the left), just 3 full breaths, you must breathe in through your nose and feel or force your belly to swell to grow, when you breathe out through your mouth, your belly must be plump, you must return to the starting position. You should repeat for 3 complete cycles at the beginning and after that it will be easier for you to upgrade to 9 complete cycles. The time should be controlled in your head being 3 seconds inhaling, 6 seconds expiring in the first 3 cycles when you go to 9 cycles, we can also increase the time to 5 seconds of inspiration and 10 seconds of exhalation.

When you reach the end, your body will understand that you are entering a moment of your own, the importance of the ritual, which is nothing more than repeating the same practice to train your body and mind.

Body position.

As I had written you can look for the first time how you feel best, whether on your sofa, on your bed, on the floor, in a chair or even in the lotus position, I recommend that the practice be performed in a chair facing your altar, you can join the practice of Utiseta to the moment before when you will perform your prayers or take offerings. Look for your ideal position and when you feel comfortable try to modify it little by little until it is possible to practice in a chair or sitting outdoors. In the event that you have the possibility to perform in the open air, always have your palms in contact with the ground or the soles of your feet, over time have both your palms and the soles of your feet.

Clothing.

Up there I wrote about ritualistic to train your body and again I go back to that point, whenever possible you should have a separate outfit for your practice, because your body will understand that this is the moment of change, that there you are preparing for what comes next. With the time when you get the clothes your vibration will change and seeking the final state that you will reach the end of Utiseta. In case you do not have the possibility or even are in a shared space, try to practice with a piece of cloth wrapped around your hand and keep that piece of cloth, just remove this strip of cloth at the time of practice, over time you can dye runes or bindrunes in your devotional range.

Guide.

On your path within religion I recommend that you look for Guides or Gods or Goddesses with whom you identify, sometimes it can be easier for you to find your Fylgja, or the animal spirit that accompanies you, not to be confused with hamingja , I promise to come back to the topic in the near future, also remember that the path to the Gods and Goddesses passes through your Ancestors, you only exist for them and the path goes from you to your Ancestors and from them to Gods and Goddesses.

The Guide you choose should always be your companion and often a teacher on the journey when you practice Utiseta.

Why am I here.

Before starting the practice, define why you are there, what you want to look for, be it an answer to a problem or even just relax and disconnect from day to day, but always know your whys, they should not be fetters within the

practice, but they should help you to have a focus from the moment you start breathing to the moment you are grateful.

Encourage.

Over time, you may have moments when you get lost, that is, you disconnect to the point where time continues but you are not here, there are masters of practice who can spend many, many hours traveling within Utiseta, but this one does not it is your case and to avoid this try to regulate a light alarm, a simple touch that is as strong as possible to help you bring you back. Your anchor can be a physical item that you have in contact with your body, such as the devotional band or even some symbol that you wear on a chain around your neck, before leaving within the practice feel the weight and the contact of the object that will make you feel hold and use as a way back.

Acknowledgments.

Even outside Utiseta, be grateful to have the opportunity to return to your grandparents’ home, be grateful to be able to have the strength to fight or even an available hand to lift you off the ground when you fall but remember that if you don’t fight for yourself and for your nobody goes. At the end of the practice give thanks to your Ancestors and your (or your) Guides, to everything that was with you, but with an open heart and within the mutual respect that will always exist, after the practice you can spend time reflecting about what you brought in learning or feeling and should say your prayers.

In our podcast (ALVAcast) I will leave a guided Utiseta practice to help you as a guide in your first moments.

Thank you for reading this far and feel free to write to us and ask what you think is appropriate, we are always available to help you, I wish you a great trip inside Utiseta and become one of your tools for learning about yourself.
